THERMOSTAT V-8 18-3662 In the cooling system of an outboard motor, it is a temperature-controlled valve that opens or closes in response to the ambient temperature. When it is closed, the flow of cooling water through the outboard stops increasing the working temperature of the motor.
When the temperature rises, the thermostat opens, letting coolant flow through the outboard and bringing the operating temperature down. Until it reaches the temperature required by the engine, This device keeps the cooling water in the block in place. After that, it opens to allow the water out before it becomes too hot and overheats the outboard.
