Between a revolving surface and a stationary component, there are flat washers called thrust washers. They restrain movement along the shaft while supporting the axial load or side-to-side motion. The thrust washer provides a surface on which a bearing has support. Furthermore, thrust washers may serve as weight bearings. For smaller electronics like turntables, thrust washers may also serve as weight bearings and erratic motion dampers.
Thrust washers are suitable in high-wear situations. Axle assemblies, motors, gearboxes, pumps, power take-offs, and winches are a few examples of high-wear applications that require thrust washers. It can easily withstand the forces of axial control displacement. Thrust washers are advantageous to the propeller shafts of marine boats because they allow the axial thrust of a converted rotating propeller into a forward or backward motion.
