Trim tabs are two independently adjustable metal plates at the helm that are controlled by a panel. These tabs can help correct engine torque or weight distribution imbalances. Trim tabs have a purpose on a boat. They allow you to individually trim the hull and prop, as well as make lateral changes to avoid a sideways list. Because the trim tabs can handle hull trimming, the power trim can focus entirely on prop adjustment. Your boat gets optimum performance and efficiency by combining the power trim with trim tabs, which is impossible to achieve with only the power trim.
