A U-joint is a joint that connects two things, usually shafts, and permits relative rotation in two axes. Two revolute joints with perpendicular and intersecting axes make up the joint. The speed of the output shaft will fluctuate if the input shaft is rotating at a constant fast. The output shaft's velocity will occasionally be slightly greater or lower than this average, but they will both have the same average overall. The degree of shaft misalignment determines how much the output shaft oscillates; if the shafts are coaxial, the output shaft will really have a constant velocity.
