The Upper Casing gasket is frequently well-used to seal the filter and stop oil leaks. The internal and external oil filters securely mounted to the engine must have a gasket to be appropriately sealed. Oil leaks would frequently happen without gaskets unless adhesives were available to stop them, making changing the oil filter time-consuming. Gaskets were cleverly well-developed to stop it. But after time, the gasket becomes brittle and begins to split. It eventually causes a tiny leak, which can quickly grow into a significant engine oil spill.
