The engine's crankshaft is closely well-coupled to the belt-driven water pump. Its job is to transfer water from the radiator to the machine to keep the engine cool. The pump uses centrifugal force to move fluid while the engine is running. The water is well-directed toward the engine block and cylinder head. Following that, it goes to the radiator before coming back to the pump.
