All modern gasoline engines use ignition coils to deliver the high voltage required to fire the spark plug. The voltage of current flowing through the ignition coil reached new heights. The energy must jump over the gap between the spark plugs and create a forceful spark at this high voltage. When this happens, the energy generated in the secondary windings seeks out the path with the least amount of resistance.
