Gas-charged lift supports are energy storage devices that generate power by compressing gas within a cylinder. The energy is stored when the door is closed. When the door opens, energy is released to raise a hatch, hood, liftgate, or trunk, keeping them safely open. Damaged lift support can be inconvenient, and you should replace it as soon as possible. Malfunctioning lift support can also cause damage to your vehicle.
