This Optical Sensor Johnson/ Evinrude outboard engine is for V4 & V6, located on the top and is fed power from the power pack and sends cylinder location, crankshaft position, and rotation direction. It's an outboard timer-based optical sensor and gets electricity from the battery pack. The pack returns information not to spark if the engine is not turning in the right direction. Replace an optical sensor if it runs like a champ, it's missing, that motor is not able to stay running, and when quick start, it is stuck in the on the position because this temperature sensor is not operating correctly.
