Jam nuts are approximately half the size of regular nuts. In practice, both nuts are put onto the bolt and then tightened against each other. There are various reasons why you should use jam nuts. The first is when you need to connect anything, soft material, and don't want to risk hurting it by fastening against it. The second example involves attaching something to the bolt while allowing it to move. Installing jam nuts is a simple technique. We'll use our trusted vice to secure our bolt. Once the bolt is in position, tighten the first nut. Check that the first bolt is far enough down to allow for the second.
