In relation to internal combustion engines not powered by diesel, a contact set is a sort of electrical switch that often refers to the switching element of the ignition system located in the distributor. An insulated bushed hole for mounting on a pin with a spring washer at the top of the pin is present within the distributor. This contact breaker assembly consists of make and break springy contacts and an insulated cam follower. Replaceable with Mercury 398-2202 and GLM 70170.
