The Capacitor Discharge design is primarily to overcome long charging durations and improve the ignition system's suitability for high engine speeds. It utilizes capacitor discharge current toward the coil for firing the spark plugs. An electronic ignition device stores an electrical charge and discharges it through an ignition coil to generate a forceful spark from the spark plugs in a petrol engine. The capacitor charge provides the ignition, and it stores and discharges in a split second, allowing a spark to be generated.
